Coastal News Bulletin

Write for us

Coastal News Bulletin welcomes clear, original pitches about shorelines, tides, harbours, coastal language and the ordinary details that help readers understand a place by the sea.

What makes a good pitch

Start with a specific question or observation, then explain what a reader will understand by the end. Strong proposals have a defined subject, a clear angle and a reason the piece can be useful beyond one news cycle. Comparisons, explanations and carefully framed histories are welcome when they do not rely on invented detail.

A careful scope

Keep claims proportionate to the material available. A general article should not imply that one coast, harbour or local practice represents every coastal place. Avoid advice that would require readers to assess hazardous conditions or replace local, professional or official guidance.

Send a proposal

Use the Contact page and select the editorial question option to send a pitch. Include the proposed subject, central idea and a brief note about your approach. A proposal is not a commission, and no contributor credentials or publication arrangements are assumed.

Our point of view

The coast is never just a view

A shoreline is a working edge, a changing landform and a place people know through daily use. We look closely at all three.
